RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF ASSEMBLY BILL 41 (DAUCHER) REGARDING FUNDING FOR AREA AGENCIES ON AGING

______________________________________________________________

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, during years when the state budget is not enacted by July 1st, funding for area agencies on aging is halted putting local home- and community-based programs at risk for disruption or delay; and

WHEREAS, San Mateo County may be required to advance approximately $275,000 per month for County area agency on aging activities, if the 2003-2004 State Budget is not passed on time; and

WHEREAS, AB 41 (Daucher) would mitigate the risk of a temporary delay in funding and avoid local service disruption in the event the State is unable to adopt a budget by the June 30th deadline; and

WHEREAS, support of AB 41 (Daucher) furthers the County's Visioning 2010 commitment to ensure basic health and safety for all and supports Visioning Goal #8 to help vulnerable people-the aged, disabled, mentally ill, at-risk youth and others-achieve a better quality of life;

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors by the adoption of this resolution hereby supports Assembly Bill 41 (Daucher) regarding funding for area agencies on aging.
