RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF ASSEMBLY BILL 137 (CORREA) REGARDING EXTENDING THE SUNSET DATE ON THE CALIFORNIA FUND FOR SENIOR CITIZENS TAX CHECK-OFF

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

 

WHEREAS, the County of San Mateo has a long history with the California Senior Legislature and a record of supporting the civic participation of senior through entities including the Commission on Aging; and

 

WHEREAS, AB 137 (Correa) would extend the sunset date on the California Fund for Senior Citizens tax check-off from January 1, 2005 to January 1, 2010 and would retain the existing requirement that the Fund receive a minimum contribution ($262,000 in FY 2003-2004) level in order to remain on the list of check-off options; and

 

WHEREAS, support of AB 137 (Correa) furthers the County's Visioning 2010 commitment to realize the potential of our diverse population and supports Visioning Goal #2 to encourage civic engagement-including voting, public service, charitable giving, volunteerism and participation in public discussions of important issues-is uniformly high among the diverse populations of San Mateo County;

 

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors by the adoption of this resolution hereby supports Assembly Bill 137 (Correa) extending the sunset date on the California Fund for Senior Citizens tax check-off.
