RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF ASSEMBLY BILL 1131 (JACKSON) REGARDING CRIMES AGAINST ELDERS AND DEPENDENT ADULTS |

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that |

WHEREAS, seniors can be the victims of forgery, fraud and identity theft by people they trust and those few abusive caretakers; and |
|
WHEREAS, AB 1131 would expand the definition of "financial elder abuse" to include forgery, fraud, or identity theft committed against an elder or dependent adult; and |
|
WHEREAS, support of AB 1131 (Jackson) furthers the County's Visioning 2010 commitment to ensure basic health and safety for all and supports Visioning Goal #7 to maintain and enhance the public safety of all residents and visitors; |
|
NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors by the adoption of this resolution hereby supports Assembly Bill 1131 (Jackson) regarding crimes against elders and dependent adults. |
