BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION APPROVING THE SAN MATEO COUNTY AMERICANS WITH DISABLITES ACT, TITLE II POLICIES AND PROCEDURES AND THE POLICIES AND PROCEDURES TRAINING MANUAL AND AUTHORIZING THE COUNTY MANAGER TO APPROVE FUTURE CHANGES

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

 

WHEREAS, there has been presented to this Board of Supervisors for its consideration and approval the San Mateo County Americans With Disabilities Act, Title II Policies and Procedures and the Policies and Procedures Training Manual;

 

WHEREAS, on July 26, 1990, the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) was signed into law, prohibiting discrimination against persons with disabilities in all services, programs, and activities provided or made available by state or local government;

 

WHEREAS, the San Mateo County Commission on Disabilities formed the ADA Compliance Committee to address issues related to the passage of the ADA;

 

WHEREAS, the responsibilities of the Committee include, but are not limited to, assisting all County Departments with an understanding and implementation of Title II of the ADA;

 

WHEREAS, this Committee developed a training manual to ensure that all County employees directly serving the public will be familiar with ADA Policies and Procedures and the resources available to them; and

 

WHEREAS, these ADA Policies and Procedures have been reviewed and approved as to form and content by County Counsel, County Executive Committee and the Commission on Disabilities:

 

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the Board of Supervisors approve the San Mateo County Americans With Disabilities Act, Title II Policies and Procedures and the Policies and Procedure Training Manual; and

 

BE IT FURTHER DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the County Manager is authorized to approve future changes to these documents.
