RESOLUTION 614-C APPROVING THE CONSOLIDATED OPERATING BUDGET FOR THE HOUSING AUTHORITY FOR THE FY ENDING JUNE 30, 2004
Recommendation
Adopt Resolution 614-C approving the consolidated operating budget for the Housing Authority for the FY ending June 30, 2004.
Background
The Housing Authority administers fifteen separate housing programs and is authorized to provide housing assistance to 4,530 families. During FY 2003, over 4,700 families were assisted by stretching (within regulations) all of the funds made available by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
For the FY ending June 30, 2004 the Housing Authority expects to start the year assisting 4,710 families but must reduce the number of assisted families to the 4,530 authorized.
The budget presented to the Board for review and approval represents full utilization of funds provided by HUD.
Discussion
The $72,295,000 operating budget is a reasonable financial plan for the economical operation of the Housing Authority’s programs for the FY ending June 30, 2004.
This Resolution has been approved by the County Counsel’s Office as to form.
Vision Alignment
The budget keeps the commitment stated in goal #9 – “Housing exists for people at all income levels and for all generations of families” by providing funds to continue to operate all housing programs administered by the Housing Authority.
Fiscal Impact
There is no Net County Cost associated with this action. All funds for the operation of the programs come from the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
