RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A FIRST AMENDMENT TO THE AGREEMENT WITH THE CITY OF SAN JOSE, IN WHICH THE COUNTY IS THE CONTRACTOR

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, the City of San Jose and the County entered into an Agreement on March 24, 2003, for the purpose of the County providing employment and training services to dislocated workers of the high tech industry; and

WHEREAS, both parties now wish to amend the Agreement to increase the amount and extend the term for the purpose of serving additional dislocated workers; and

WHEREAS, the City of San Jose is the recipient and fiscal agent for the Workforce Investment Title IB 25 percent Dislocated Worker Project grant that is to be allocated for RE-TEC project services; and

WHEREAS, the County of San Mateo is part of the RE-TEC collaborative that consists of nine counties and twelve regional Workforce Investment Boards to provide services to workers affected by closures and layoffs from the high tech industry; and

WHEREAS, a First Amendment to the Agreement has been presented to the County by the City of San Jose to fund additional services to dislocated workers; and

WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors has been presented with this First Amendment to the Agreement for consideration and approval, and desires to enter into same.

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the President of this Board of Supervisors is hereby authorized and directed to execute said First Amendment to the Agreement for and on behalf of the County of San Mateo, and the Clerk of this Board shall attest the President's signature thereto.
