Resolution Declaring Lawndale Boulevard (formerly Hickey Boulevard) from Hillside Boulevard to Mission Road within the Town of Colma to No Longer be a County Highway and Relinquishing Lawndale Boulevard to the Town of Colma

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

 

WHEREAS, the “City-County Highway Plan for San Mateo County”, a study of proposed road improvements throughout the County that was prepared in 1962, identified the extension of Hickey Boulevard from Hillside Boulevard to El Camino Real as part of an east/west link in the overall road system serving San Mateo County; and

 

WHEREAS, the County, in order to facilitate construction of a portion of this east/west link, acquired right-of-way within the Town of Colma for the section of Hickey Boulevard (now known as Lawndale Boulevard) from the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of San Francisco. Said right-of-way is as shown on Exhibit “A” attached hereto and made a part hereof; and

 

WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 1700 et. sec. of the State of California Streets and Highways Code, this Board adopted Resolution No. 28816, in 1972 which declared the right-of-way acquired from the Roman Catholic Archdiocese and within the Town of Colma as a County Highway; and

 

WHEREAS, the Town of Colma adopted Resolution No. 126 in 1972 consenting to Lawndale Boulevard being declared a County Highway subject to the Town approving the project and having the right to inspect the construction of said road; and

 

WHEREAS, the Town of Colma by separate agreement with the City of South San Francisco, approved the construction of Lawndale Boulevard; and

 

WHEREAS, Lawndale Boulevard is now complete and open to the public as a public road; and

 

WHEREAS, Section 1704 of the State of California Streets and Highways Code provides that a board of supervisors may adopt a resolution declaring that a street, previously declared to be a county highway, is no longer a county highway; and

 

WHEREAS, Section 1731 of the State of California Streets and Highways Code provides that a board of supervisors may by resolution relinquish any portion of a county highway to the city in which it is located; and

 

WHEREAS, the Director of Public Works has recommended that Lawndale Boulevard be declared to no longer be a county highway and that the right-of-way for said road be relinquished to the Town of Colma; and

 

WHEREAS, this Board has considered the recommendation the Director of Public Works.

 

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED as follows:

 

1.

Lawndale Boulevard (formerly Hickey Boulevard), between Hillside Boulevard and Mission Road, as shown on Exhibit “A” attached hereto, is hereby:

 
 

a.

declared to no longer be a County Highway; and

 
 

b.

relinquished to the Town of Colma as a city street.

 

2.

The Clerk of this Board shall file a certified copy of this resolution with the County Clerk Recorder and with the City Council of the Town of Colma.
