Honorable Board of Supervisors |
FROM: |
Nancy J. Steiger, Chief Executive Officer, San Mateo Medical Center |
|
SUBJECT: |
Amendment to the Agreement with Achieve Healthcare Technologies |
|
Recommendation |
Adopt a resolution authorizing the President of the Board to execute an amendment to the agreement with Achieve Healthcare Technologies. |
|
Background |
After a Request for Proposals process conducted in May 2003, Achieve Healthcare Technologies was evaluated as having the best integrated Long Term Care computer system. On March 18, 2003, the Purchasing Agent approved an agreement with Achieve Healthcare Technologies. Achieve Healthcare Technologies installed, on the County's computer equipment, selected applications of Contractor's PathLinks® soft system for the clinical and financial operation of the San Mateo Medical Center's Long Term Care Services, and is providing maintenance/support and implementation services. |
|
Discussion |
Burlingame Healthcare Center's current computer system for clinical support and Minimum Data Set transmission is not working effectively. This agreement is being amended in order to include the 281 Burlingame Healthcare Center beds in the Achieve contract. This will provide for the integration of all Long Term Care services, both at the Medical Center and Burlingame.
This amendment incorporates a Business Associate Agreement into the Contractor's agreement.
The amendment has been reviewed and approved by Risk Management, County Counsel, and Information Services. |
|
Vision Alignment |
This Contract keeps the commitment to Responsive, effective and collaborative government and goal number 20: government decisions are based on careful consideration of future impact, rather than temporary relief or immediate gain. The agreement contributes to this commitment by providing San Mateo Medical Center with the best integrated Long Term Care system that is window-based, is easy to use and has an enhanced medication module. |
|
Fiscal Impact |
The agreement is being amended to increase the maximum by $26,471, from $79,448.64 to $105,919.64. Funds are included in San Mateo Medical Center's FY2003-04 Adopted Budget. |
