RESOLUTION TO HONOR PATRIOT DAY (September 11) 2003

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

 

WHEREAS, on September 11, 2001 our country lost more than 3,000 innocent lives to an unparalleled act of terrorism; and as a people, we lost our innocence;

 

WHEREAS,; in 2002, President George W. Bush proclaimed September 11, Patriot Day, to honor and remember those who perished, reflect on our nations' loss; and to renew the American spirit;

 

WHEREAS, On September 11, 2003, the County of San Mateo will join with the nation to honor Patriot Day by observing a moment of silence at 8:46 a.m., the time the first plane hit the Twin Tower and flags at County facilities will respectfully be flown at half-staff;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the Board of Supervisors proclaim and honor September 11, 2003 as Patriot Day to honor the more than 3,000 Americans who lost their lives as a result of terrorism.
