FROM: |
Margaret Taylor, Director of Health Services |
SUBJECT: |
Continuation of Contracts |
Recommendation |
Adopt a resolution authorizing the Controller to continue payments on contracts from July 1, 2003 through December 31, 2003. |
Background / Discussion |
Health Services has a number of contracts for services that expired on or before June 30, 2003 and are pending completion. These contracts, listed in Attachment A, were previously extended by your Board for three months. Completion of these contracts has been delayed because of the complexities of negotiating service agreements for mental health services during the state budget delays and the uncertainty of state funding for the services. |
To ensure continued provision of services during this period, it is necessary to authorize the Controller to continue to make payments to these contracts at the existing rates through December 31, 2003. This resolution allows contractors to meet their commitments in a timely fashion and will allow the time to complete negotiations. This resolution requires that all terms and conditions of the existing agreements are met. |
Vision Alignment |
This continuation of contracts keep the commitment of Ensuring Basic Health and Safety for All and goal number 8: Help vulnerable people-the aged, disabled, mentally ill, at-risk youth and others-achieve a better quality of life. It does this by allowing the Controller to continue to make payments on contracts at the existing rates through September 30, 2003 in order to ensure continuous provision of services to residents. |
Fiscal Impact |
Funds for the annual costs have been included in the Health Service's 2003-04 approved budget. |
