Honorable Board of Supervisors

FROM:

Paul T. Scannell, Assistant County Manager

SUBJECT:

First Amendment to Lease with Borel Estate Company for First Five Office Space in San Mateo, Lease No. 1259

Recommendation
Adopt a Resolution authorizing the President of the Board of Supervisors to execute a First Amendment to the Lease Agreement with the Borel Estate Company for office space at
1700 South El Camino Real, San Mateo.

Background
The Borel Estate Company leases the County space in a building at 1700 South El Camino Real, which is currently occupied by First Five. Additional space in the building is needed for the First Five program.

Discussion
A First Amendment to the Lease Agreement has been negotiated.
The Borel Estate Company has offered to lease 423 square feet of space adjacent to the existing space at Suite 405 at the same rate being paid for other space which the County presently occupies. Other terms will be the same as the original Lease Agreement.

The Agency's Board of Directors concurs with this recommendation. County Counsel has reviewed and approved the amendment as to form.

Vision Alignment

The First Amendment keeps the commitment of responsive, effective and collaborative government and goal number 22: government decisions are based on careful consideration of future impact, rather than temporary relief or immediate gain. The lease of space in this location contributes to this commitment and goal by providing easy access to an important community resource and co-location with an important community partner.

Fiscal Impact
First Five has sufficient funds available for the lease through Proposition 10 revenues.
