Employee of the Month for October 2003

Recommendation

Honor Sandra Stevenson as Employee of the Month for October 2003 and authorize the President of the Board to sign the commendation.

Background

The Employee of the Month program was established in December 1984 to recognize and honor County employees who consistently demonstrate an outstanding level of performance.

Our Employee of the Month for October 2003 is Sandra Stevenson, Marriage and Family Therapist II in the Mental Health Division of the Health Services Agency.

Discussion

A County of employee for nearly 10 years, Sandra consistently provides excellent service to mentally ill children and adults living in San Mateo County. She engages clients and families in treatment with positive outcomes for all.

Sandra is a member of the Interface Team at the North County Health Center. Medical Supervisor Dr. David Gershan applauds Sandra for her "work, dedication, sensitivity, clarity and responsiveness" to their requests for consultation, assessment and treatment services. Sandra always maintains a professionalism and empathy of the highest order.

Sandra's concern for others is also expressed in her volunteerism. In November 1998 she used her own funds to fly to Honduras to help the homeless and orphaned children in the wake of the devastation caused by the hurricane.

Sandra's reputation for quality care, collaborative work and productivity deserve recognition. Our County is fortunate to have Sandra Stevenson as one of its outstanding employees.
