Mary Strojny's work ethic, enthusiasm and energy, combined with her investigative and organizational skills, make her a truly invaluable resource which have other employees in the County Counsel's office clamoring for her time. She arrived at the County Counsel's Office in 2001 as a part-time paralegal to help on a construction lawsuit that had rooms filled with documents. Mary attacked that mountain of paper and soon had it organized so that not only could individual documents be located, they could be found by computer. Her efforts, her attitude and her support in that case brought the praises of the Assistant County Manager.
Mary dives into cases with such gusto that she truly has had a direct impact on the results. Not only can she organize documents so that the case can be deciphered, her tireless efforts during the discovery, pre-trial, trial and post-trial has saved the County real dollars, as well as considerable effort and time. In one lawsuit, her skill and effort was instrumental in obtaining its dismissal. When she is on the war path trying to uncover a document, she will not take "No" for answer. She has found needles in haystacks and smoking guns, from a deed dating back to the 1800s to missing medical records, or even records no one knew existed. Mary's indefatigable efforts do not stop at the end of her work day; she will stop off on `vacation' and check for documents in San Diego, she will take her digital camera and `swing by the accident scene' for photos on her way home, or stop by for records at a Court house near home. Mary Strojny is one of the most dedicated employees in the County Counsel's Office, let alone the County, and is truly deserving of being named the Employee of the Month.
