BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION DECLARING UNCLAIMED MONIES, IN THE COUNTY TREASURY, PROPERTY OF THE COUNTY OF SAN MATEO AND TRANSFERRING SAID UNCLAIMED MONIES TO THE COUNTY TREASUER AND PUBLIC ADMINISTRATOR

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, there is currently on deposit with the County Treasurer, of the County of San Mateo, in funds entitled "Unknown Heirs" and "Abandoned Property", $77,489.92. The fund entitled "Unknown Heirs" totaling $70,658.96 was received from the Public Administrator's Office and has remained unclaimed in the County Treasury for three years. The fund entitled "Abandoned Property" totaling $6,830.96, was escheated to the Treasurer's Office from storage facilities after remaining unclaimed for one year per Business and Professions Code Sec. 21703 and 21705; and

WHEREAS, the County Treasurer has caused appropriate notice to be published in the San Mateo County Times, a newspaper of general circulation in the County of San Mateo, in the form and manner provided by Gov. Code Sec. 50050 and 50051; and

WHEREAS, there were no claims on said monies and after the exercise of due diligence, it is necessary and desirable to provide for the escheat of said monies to the County of San Mateo pursuant to 50050 et seq. of the Government Code; and

WHEREAS, the total unclaimed monies in the amount of $77,489.92, have become the property of the County of San Mateo and this Board of Supervisors desires to transfer said monies to the County Treasurer and Public Administrator, as unanticipated revenue;

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED:

(1) That the unclaimed monies totaling $77,489.92, on deposit with the County Treasurer, of the County of San Mateo, shall hereby be declared property of the County of San Mateo;

(2) That the County Treasurer and Public Administrator shall equally share the Unknown Heirs fund totaling $70,658.96, as unanticipated revenue and that the Treasurer shall also claim, as unanticipated revenue, the escheated funds from Abandoned Property totaling $6,830.96;

(3) That the Clerk of this Board is hereby authorized and directed to send certified copies to the County Treasurer and Public Administrator's Office.
