Resolution Authorizing the Director of Public Works to Proceed with the Preparation of Design Plans for Reconstructing Portions of Barney Avenue and Camino De Los Robles - West Menlo Park Area (County Projects No. RC501R & RA701, F-140 [A])

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, this Board adopted minimum road standards, a priority list and procedures to be used to determine if property owners in the West Menlo Park area wanted their roads reconstructed to a minimum standard; and

WHEREAS, the Director of Public Works has surveyed the property owners on Barney Avenue from Camino Al Lago to Valparaiso Avenue, and Camino De Los Robles from Alameda de las Pulgas to Altschul Avenue, to determine their preference for street improvements as provided for by this Board's adopted procedures; and

WHEREAS, the Director of Public Works, based on the results of said survey, has recommended that Barney Avenue from Camino A Los Cerros to Cedar Avenue, and Camino De Los Robles from Alameda de las Pulgas to Altschul Avenue, be reconstructed to the standards consistent with this Board's adopted guidelines; and

WHEREAS, this Board has considered the recommendations of the Director of Public Works.

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the Director of Public Works is authorized to:

1.

proceed with the preparation of design plans to reconstruct portions of Barney Avenue and Camino De Los Robles to the following minimum standards:

a)

Barney Avenue from Camino A Los Cerros to Cedar Avenue - 18' wide road with 3' valley gutters on each side; and

b)

Camino De Los Robles from Alameda de las Pulgas to Altschul Avenue - 22' wide road with 3' valley gutters on each side.

2.

defer consideration of constructing minimum improvements on Barney Avenue:

a)

from Camino Al Lago to Camino A Los Cerros; and

b)

from Cedar Avenue to Valparaiso Avenue.

3.

design improvements using a centerline other than the centerline of the right-of-way on Barney Avenue and Camino De Los Robles and in other locations in order to minimize conflicts with existing utility facilities and to minimize impacts to existing improvements as determined by the Director of Public Works.
