RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE CONDITIONS OF THE GRANT AND AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF PROBATION OFFICER TO SUBMIT AND EXECUTE THE JUVENILE ACCOUNTABILITY BLOCK GRANT

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, the County desires to continue a certain project designated the VICTIM IMPACT AWARENESS (VIA) PROGRAM to be funded in part from funds available through the Juvenile Accountability Block Grant Program administered by the Board of Corrections (hereafter referred to as BOC). The amount of the grant is $88,726 (Match $9,858) with a term of July 1, 2004 through June 30, 2005;

WHEREAS, the County agrees that any liability arising out of the performance of this Grant Award, including civil court actions for damages, shall be the responsibility of the grant recipient and the Board of Supervisors, as the authorizing agency. It is agreed that the State of California and BOC disclaim responsibility for any such liability;

the County agrees to provide all matching funds required for said project (including any amendment thereof) under the Program and the funding terms and conditions of BOC and that the match will be appropriated as required;

The County agrees that grant funds received hereunder shall not be used to supplant expenditures controlled by this body.

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the Board of Supervisors accepts the indicated conditions of the grant and authorizes the Chief Probation Officer to submit and/or sign, on behalf of the Board, the attached proposal to BOC and is authorized to sign the Grant Award Agreement and execute on behalf of the Board of Supervisors any related extensions, amendments or contracts, providing any document requiring the expenditure of additional funds by the County will be approved by the Board.
