TO:

Honorable Board of Supervisors

FROM:

John Maltbie, County Manager

SUBJECT:

Employee of the Month for August 2004

Recommendation
Honor Sherry Amjadi as Employee of the Month for August 2004 and authorize the President of the Board to sign the commendation.

Background
The Employee of the Month program was established in December 1984 to recognize and honor County employees who consistently demonstrate an outstanding level of performance.

Our Employee of the Month for August 2004 is Sherry Amjadi, Lead Electrograph Technician in the San Mateo Medical Center.

Discussion
Sherry has been a County employee for nearly twenty-four years. As the Lead Electrograph Technician, Sherry operates and maintains electrocardiograph (EKG), electroencephalograph (EEG), and electromyographic (EMG) equipment, as well as providing lead direction in assigning and reviewing the work of Electrograph Technicians. In her position, Sherry works closely with cardiologists, patients and staff.

Sherry was nominated for this award by program manager Jonathan Mesinger. Jonathan credits Sherry with coming up with an innovative solution for records storage. Sherry’s idea enabled the department to reduce workspace without compromising patient safety or regulatory requirements and saved $30,000 in capital construction costs!

Sherry is flexible, creative and a true professional in every task she undertakes.

Our County is fortunate to have Sherry Amjadi as one of its outstanding employees.
