SUBJECT:

Resolution authorizing the Chief Elections Office to render specified Election services for the Portola Valley Elementary School District and the Ravenswood City School District in conjunction with the Presidential Primary Election to be held on Tuesday, March 2, 2004.

 

RECOMMENDATION:

Adopt a Resolution authorizing the Chief Elections Officer to render specified Election Services for the Portola Valley Elementary School District and the Ravenswood City School District in conjunction with the Presidential Primary Election to be held on Tuesday, March 2, 2004.

 

BACKGROUND:

According to Elections Code §10002, the governing body of any city or district may request the Board of Supervisors of the County to permit the County Elections Official to render specified services to the city or district relating to the conduct of an election. Subject to approval of the Board of Supervisors, these services shall be performed by the Chief Elections Officer.

 

DISCUSSION:

In accordance with State Law, resolutions were filed by the Portola Valley Elementary School District and the Ravenswood City School District requesting the Chief Elections Officer to perform specified election services in conjunction with the Presidential Primary Election to be held on Tuesday, March 2, 2004.

 

It is in order for your Honorable Board to authorize the Chief Elections Officer to render specified election services for the above districts. We respectfully request that our recommendation be approved.

 

VISION ALIGNMENT:

The proposed resolution keeps the County's commitments and furthers progress towards its goals: (1) realizing the potential of our diverse population - civic engagement including voting and participation in public discussions of important issues; (2) supporting responsive, effective and collaborative government - County and local governments effectively communicate and develop strategic approaches to issues affecting the County; and (3) supporting leaders working together across boundaries to preserve and enhance our quality of life - as residents express their support for regional, collaborative approaches to issues and accepting individual responsibility for contributing to the quality of life of the County as a whole.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

The Portola Valley Elementary School District and the Ravenswood City School District will pay for services performed.
