Honorable Board of Supervisors |
FROM: |
Chris Flatmoe, CIO/Director Information Services |
SUBJECT: |
Amendment to an Agreement with NextiraOne for Telephone System Hardware and Software Maintenance |
|
RECOMMENDATION: |
Approve an amendment with NextiraOne for telephone system hardware and software maintenance from January 1, 2004 to December 31, 2004 and increase the agreement amount to $198,085.38. |
|
BACKGROUND: |
The Telephone Services Section of the Information Services Department (ISD) maintains PBX systems at twelve County sites. Hardware and software maintenance on the PBX systems is provided through a contract with NextiraOne. Last year, agreement 18000-03-C147 was implemented for this proprietary maintenance. The agreement provides for year-to-year extensions. |
|
DISCUSSION: |
The County's telephone system is manufactured by Northern Telecom (Nortel). NextiraOne is the only local provider and support vendor of Nortel telephone equipment. NextiraOne was previously chosen, through a competitive process, to upgrade the County's telephone system. As such NextiraOne is intimately familiar with our system |
|
VISION ALIGNMENT |
This agreement with NextiraOne keeps the commitment of responsive, effective, collaborative government and goal number 20: Government decisions are based on careful consideration of future impact, rather than temporary relief or immediate gain. |
|
FISCAL IMPACT: |
The amount of the proposed amendment to the agreement is $99,042.69. This is the same amount as in last year's maintenance agreement and the amendment will increase the amount of the agreement to $198,085.38. No new allocation of funds is needed to support the agreement. Necessary funds are included in the Information Services budget. |
