RESOLUTION TO AMEND THE 2003-2004 LEGISLATIVE SESSION PROGRAM TO INCLUDE A LEGISLATIVE PROPOSAL REGARDING THE CREATION OF A COUNTYWIDE SPECIAL PARK DISTRICT

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

 

WHEREAS, County staff estimates an un-funded capital projects need of $78 million for the County parks system and most of the cities in San Mateo County also have identified un-met parks and recreation need; and

 

WHEREAS, San Mateo County is one of only two counties in the nine-county Bay Area region not to have a dedicated source of funding for acquisition, development and/or maintenance of park facilities and

 

WHEREAS, residents of San Mateo County have been working since 1992 for tax-based funding for its parks and

 

    NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors by the adoption of this resolution hereby amends the 2003-2004 Legislative Session Program to include a legislative proposal regarding the creation of a countywide special park district.
