RESOLUTION TO AMEND THE 2003-2004 LEGISLATIVE SESSION PROGRAM TO INCLUDE A LEGISLATIVE PROPOSAL REGARDING THE CREATION OF A COUNTYWIDE SPECIAL PARK DISTRICT |

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that |
|
WHEREAS, County staff estimates an un-funded capital projects need of $78 million for the County parks system and most of the cities in San Mateo County also have identified un-met parks and recreation need; and |
|
WHEREAS, San Mateo County is one of only two counties in the nine-county Bay Area region not to have a dedicated source of funding for acquisition, development and/or maintenance of park facilities and |
|
WHEREAS, residents of San Mateo County have been working since 1992 for tax-based funding for its parks and |
|
NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors by the adoption of this resolution hereby amends the 2003-2004 Legislative Session Program to include a legislative proposal regarding the creation of a countywide special park district.
