RESOLUTION NO. _____________ |
BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA |

RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF PROPOSITION 56-THE BUDGET ACCOUNTABILITY ACT OF 2004 |
______________________________________________________________ |
RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that |
WHEREAS, due, in part to the difficulty of securing a two-thirds vote, the State Legislature typically approves the state budget well beyond the Constitutional deadline of June 30; and |
WHEREAS, this delay negatively impacts San Mateo County and requires the County to revise the budget months after the fiscal year has begun; and |
WHEREAS, Proposition 56 would reduce from two-thirds to 55% the vote requirement needed to approve the state budget and would provide other incentives for passing the state budget on time; and |
WHEREAS, support of Proposition 56 furthers San Mateo County's Visioning 2010 commitment to provide responsive, effective and collaborative government and work toward Goal #20-to ensure that government decisions are based on careful consideration of future impact, rather than temporary relief or immediate gain; |
NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors by the adoption of this resolution hereby supports Proposition 56-The Budget Accountability Act of 2004.
