BOARD MEETING DATE: |

|
|
TO: |
Honorable Board of Supervisors |
FROM: |
John L. Maltbie, County Manager/Clerk of the Board |
SUBJECT: |
Approve the Removal of a Commissioner from the Commission on Aging |
|
RECOMMENDATION: |
Approve the removal of Commissioner Richard Olden from the Commission on Aging as recommended by the Executive Committee. |
|
BACKGROUND: |
Commissioner Richard Olden has missed a total of 6 (out of 11) general Commission meetings since January of 2003 without explanation or excuse. He has exceeded the minimum allowable unexcused absences. |
|
DISCUSSION: |
It is stated in the Commission on Aging Procedural Rules that "two unexcused absences during a six-month period shall be grounds to request that the Board remove the Member." Commissioner Olden's lack of attendance prevents him from keeping abreast of Commission activities and issues as well as being a contributing member. The Executive Committee of the Commission on Aging is requesting that Richard Olden be removed from the Commission. |
