SUBJECT: |
Amendment with Bay Area Urology Group |
|
Recommendation |
Adopt a resolution authorizing the President of the Board to execute an amendment to the agreement with Bay Area Urology Group |
|
Background |
San Mateo County is responsible for providing necessary medical care to its medically indigent population. This care includes professional urology services. Bay Area Urology Group provides professional urology services including the management and supervision of those services. For the past four years, Bay Area Urology Group has provided these services as a subcontractor to the Medical Associates of San Mateo County (MASMC). |
|
Discussion |
The current agreement with Bay Areas Urology Group expires as of March 31, 2004. They are currently renegotiating their contracts with other area hospitals and have asked for a two (2) month extension of their current contract with the San Mateo Medical Center. The extension would be at Bay Area Urology Group's prevailing reimbursement rate. |
|
Vision Alignment |
This agreement keeps the commitment to Ensure Basic Health and Safety for All and goal number 5: Provide residents access to healthcare and preventive care. The agreement contributes to this commitment and goal by continuing to provide urology services to county patients. |
|
Fiscal Impact |
The term of the amendment is for two months from April 1, 2004 through May 31, 2004. This amendment pays Bay Area Urology Group an additional amount of $46,237.68 over the term of the amendment, for a maximum amount of $587,879.04 over the term of the agreement. Funding is included in the 2004-05 approved budget for Hospital and Clinics. |
