RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE COUNTY AND MID PENINSULA REGIONAL OPEN SPACE DISTRICT REGARDING COUNTY FIRE SERVICES

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that:

WHEREAS, Mid Peninsula Regional Open Space District's proposed Coastside Protection Program, if approved, would expand the boundaries of the District;

WHEREAS, the Public Resources Code provides that the Board of Supervisors may enter into cooperative mutual aid agreements with the District;

WHEREAS, the District prepared an Environmental Impact Report which cites mitigation measures requiring joint operations with County Fire, including on site specific fuel modification and management programs for lands acquired as a part of the program, as well as coordination of available resources and use of the District's equipment for mutual aid;

WHEREAS, the mitigation measures call for formalizing said mutual aid agreement;

WHEREAS, the District and County Fire desire to work cooperatively to implement the mitigation measures to further the mission of both agencies for the public benefit;

WHEREAS, the District is prepared to compensate County Fire for property tax that would otherwise have been received from taxes levied if the lands had not been acquired;

WHEREAS, the District is prepared to assist in the acquisition of equipment to be used by County Fire to provide services to District owned and managed lands in this area;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors hereby approves the agreement, and authorizes and directs the President of the Board to execute the agreement on behalf of the County of San Mateo.
