RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, current funding levels for mental health services do not meet the existing need, despite tremendous local support; and

WHEREAS, the Mental Health Services Act, if approved by voters, would create a funding mechanism that would generate approximately $600 million annually for mental health services; and

WHEREAS, support of the Mental Health Services Act would further the County's Vision 2010 commitment to ensure basic health and safety for all and would support Goals # 5 and 8 to provide access to health care and preventative care and to help vulnerable people, including the mentally ill, achieve a better quality of life;

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors by the adoption of this resolution hereby supports the Mental Health Services Act.
