RESOLUTION OF SUPPORT IF AMENDED FOR ASSEMBLY BILL 1876 (CHAN), HEALTH BAY BEACHES |

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that |

WHEREAS, Assemblymember Wilma Chan has introduced AB 1876 to identify potential health risks associated with bacteria and other contaminants at bay beaches; and |
|
WHEREAS, the County of San Mateo is home to San Francisco bayside shoreline sites that may be subject to the requirements of AB 1876; and |
|
WHEREAS, San Mateo County requests that AB 1876 be amended to provide the local health officer discretion in determining what sites would be subject to testing and to ensure that additional funds (rather than current funds) are sufficient to satisfy the mandate of testing and posting warning signs; and |
|
WHEREAS, support of AB 1876, if amended, would help the County ensure basic health and safety for all and work toward Goals #7-to maintain and enhance the public safety of all residents and visitors; |
|
NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors by the adoption of this resolution hereby supports Assembly Bill 1876 (Chan) if amendments are included to address local health officers' discretion in determining what sites would be subject to testing and to ensure that additional funds (rather than current funds) are sufficient to satisfy the mandate of testing and posting warning signs. |
