RESOLUTION APPROVING DIRECT EMERGENCY DISPATCH SERVICE FOR

PRIVATE HOMES AND BUSINESSES AND ESTABLISHING FEES THEREFOR

______________________________________________________________

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, Public Safety Communications Division of Employee and Public Services operates the 911 emergency dispatch system for the County; and

WHEREAS, Communications currently provides direct dispatch connection to various County facilities, and businesses and residents have requested that their alarms systems be connected directly to the County's Dispatch Center in lieu of connecting through a private alarm company; and

WHEREAS, the provision of such service would by contract with the individuals or businesses and be charged at the cost to the County of $500 set-up fee and $60 per month and additional programming or technical changes at $65 per hour for each connection, which amount is sufficiently high that it would not compete with private businesses and the County desires to provide such service;

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that (1) the Director of Employee and Public Services is hereby authorized to provide direct alarm system from the County dispatch system to private homes and businesses and (2) the fees for such service shall be $500 for original set-up, $60 per month for monitoring, and $65 per hour with a one-hour minimum for programming or other technical charges.
