RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF AN AGREEMENT WITH YMCA OF THE MID-PENINSULA ("CONTRACTOR") TO PROVIDE FUNDS FOR PRE-DEVELOPMENT EXPENSES FOR A NEW YMCA/BELL PARK COMMUNITY CENTER IN THE CITY OF EAST PALO ALTO

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, pursuant to Government Code, Section 31000, County may contract with independent contractors for the furnishing of such services to or for County or any Department thereof; and

WHEREAS, contractor has applied for funding assistance to develop a new YMCA/Bell Park Community Center for the City of East Palo Alto; and

WHEREAS, on May 6, 2003, the Board of Supervisors approved the CDBG, ESG, and HOME Action Plan for FY 2003-04 which included funding for this activity; and

WHEREAS, both parties now wish to enter into an Agreement to provide funds for pre-development expenses for a new YMCA/Community Center in the City of East Palo Alto, for the period of 5/1/2004 to 6/30/2006, for a total obligation of $100,000; and

WHEREAS, this Board of Supervisors has been presented for its consideration and acceptance, an Agreement between the County of San Mateo and YMCA of the Mid-Peninsula, reference to which is hereby made for further particulars, and the Board of Supervisors has examined and approved the same as to form and content and desires to enter into the same.

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the President of this Board of Supervisors be, and is hereby authorized and directed to execute said Agreement for and on behalf of the County of San Mateo, and the Clerk of this Board shall attest the President's signature thereto.
