RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A FIRST AMENDMENT TO THE AGREEMENT WITH GENENTECH, INC.

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, on September 9, 2003, the Board of Supervisors adopted a Resolution accepting the ABC Grant and authorized the Human Services Agency Director to enter into Agreements with subcontractors as shown by the Grant; and

WHEREAS, The Human Services Agency Director entered into an Agreement with Genentech, Inc. for the purpose of providing Biotechnology training and employment services to dislocated workers; and

WHEREAS, the County and the Contractor wish to amend the Agreement, increasing the amount by $260,000 for a total Agreement obligation of $330,000 and extending the term to December 31, 2004, for the purpose of serving up to Eighty (80) additional participants; and

WHEREAS, this Board has been presented with a form of such First Amendment and said Board has examined and approved same as to both form and content and desires to enter into the same.

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the President of this Board of Supervisors is hereby authorized and directed to execute said First Amendment to the Agreement for and on behalf of the County of San Mateo; and the Clerk of this Board shall attest the President's signature thereto.
