RESOLUTION URGING THE CALIFORNIA AIR RESOURCES BOARD TO ADOPT MEANINGFUL REGULATIONS RELATIVE TO AB 1493 (2002, PAVLEY)

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

 

WHEREAS, greenhouse gases emitted by passenger vehicles are linked to increased warming of the atmosphere and other emissions lead to serious impacts on air quality and public health throughout California including San Mateo County; and

 

WHEREAS, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and other pollutants from motor vehicles and fuels is a key clean air strategy in California due to the significant amount of air pollution generated from these sources; and

 

WHEREAS, AB 1493 (Pavley) enacted in 2002 requires the California Air Resources Board to adopt regulations to achieve the maximum feasible and cost-effective reduction in greenhouse gases from passenger vehicles by January 2005;

 

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors by the adoption of this resolution hereby urges the California Air Resources Board to adopt the strongest possible regulations to reduce greenhouse gases emitted by passenger vehicles pursuant to AB 1493 (Pavley).
