Resolution Authorizing the Director of Public Works to Execute an Agreement with the California Department of Fish and Game for Fishery Restoration Grant Funding – Tarwater Creek Sediment Reduction Project

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that
|
|
WHEREAS, the County of San Mateo is committed to preserving and enhancing habitats for endangered species; and
|
|
WHEREAS, the project site is within the watershed of Pescadero Creek which encompasses Coho Salmon and Steelhead Trout streams on the San Mateo County Coast; and
|
|
WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works applied for a Fishery Restoration Grant from the California Department of Fish and Game for a project on the Tarwater Creek Watershed which is a sub-watershed of the Pescadero Creek Watershed; and
|
|
WHEREAS, the California Department of Fish and Game has approved the proposal submitted by the Department of Public Works, which will reimburse the County up to $179,600 in expenditures to reduce sediment from entering Pescadero Creek from roads in and around Pescadero Creek County Park; and
|
|
WHEREAS, the California Department of Fish and Game requires that an agreement be entered into by and between the California Department of Fish and Game and the recipient of a Fishery Restoration Grant before grant funds can be made available; and
|
|
WHEREAS, there has been presented to this Board a recommendation to authorize the Director of Public Works to execute the agreement with the California Department of Fish and Game, and to also execute other permit applications and permits as may be required for said project on the Tarwater Creek Watershed in the Pescadero Creek County Park, and this Board has considered said recommendation.

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED THAT this Board authorizes the Director of Public Works to execute a Fishery Restoration Grant Agreement with the California Department of Fish and Game and other permit applications and permits as may be necessary in conjunction with the proposed work to reduce sediment into Pescadero Creek.
