RESOLUTION AMENDING THE GENERAL PLAN HOUSING ELEMENT TO ADD INFORMATION REGARDING THE LAND INVENTORY AND HOMELESS SHELTERS/TRANSITIONAL HOUSING

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that:

WHEREAS, the County adopted a revised and updated Housing Element (General Plan Chapter 14) on December 16, 2003, which was submitted for review to the State Housing and Community Development Department (HCD) to determine compliance with State Housing Element Law (Government Code Article 10.6); and

WHEREAS, State HCD is recommending in their letter dated May 6, 2004, that supporting information submitted by staff during the course of the review be added to the Housing Element to ensure full compliance with State Law; and

WHEREAS, the supporting information does not substantially change the Housing Element, but rather clarifies: (1) redevelopment potential for unincorporated lands included in the Land Inventory, and (2) zoning districts where Homeless Shelters and Transitional Housing are allowed in unincorporated areas; and

WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors certified a Negative Declaration for the Housing Element on December 16, 2003; and

WHEREAS, the proposed amendment to the Housing Element has been considered by the Board of Supervisors at a public hearing on July 27, 2004.

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the General Plan Housing Element is amended to add the supporting information regarding redevelopment potential and homeless shelters/transitional housing as shown on “Exhibit A.”
