Resolution Authorizing the Execution of Grant Agreements with the California Department of Transportation for Maintenance and Safety Improvements at the
San Carlos Airport - (AIP No. 3-06-0210-08 and AIP No. 3-06-0210-09)

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

 

WHEREAS, this Board of Supervisors has accepted the following Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) improvement grants for the San Carlos Airport: AIP No. 3-06-0210-08 for fencing and security upgrades, pavement and drainage rehabilitation, automated weather reporting and safety improvements (Resolution No. 66285); and AIP No. 3-06-0210-09 for the resurfacing and remarking of the runway and taxiways, and the installation of 300-foot stopways at each end of the runway; and

 

WHEREAS, the California Department of Transportation, pursuant to Public Utilities Code Section 21683.1, may provide matching grants equal to five percent (5%) of FAA grant amounts; and

 

WHEREAS, as a condition of receiving these matching grant funds, the State requires a local agency to adopt a resolution authorizing the submittal of an application and the execution of a grant agreement for the acceptance of said grant funds; and

 

WHEREAS, the Director of Public Works has recommended that grant applications be made to the State which can be used to help finance maintenance and safety improvements at the San Carlos Airport; and

 

WHEREAS, this Board has considered the recommendation of the Director of Public Works.

 

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that:

The President of this Board is authorized to execute grant agreements with the State of California Department of Transportation on behalf of the County of San Mateo if State matching grants are made available to the San Carlos Airport for fencing and security upgrades, pavement and drainage rehabilitation, automated weather reporting and safety improvements (AIP No. 3-06-0210-08); or the resurfacing and remarking of the runway and taxiways, and the installation of 300-foot stopways at each end of the runway (AIP No. 3-06-0210-09).

The Director of Public Works is authorized to file applications for the grants and to execute any other necessary documents associated with the acceptance of grant funds from the California Department of Transportation for the aforesaid improvements.
