RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASING AGENT TO MAKE EXCLUSIVE COMPUTER, SERVER, AND PERIPHERIAL PURCHASES FOR A PERIOD OF THREE YEARS FROM DELL, HEWLETT PACKARD, AND GATEWAY AND TO WAIVE THE REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS PROCESS

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, there has been presented to this Board of Supervisors for its consideration and acceptance a request to authorize the Purchasing Agent to purchase a selection of personal computers, servers, and peripherals and waive the request for proposal (“RFP”) process for a three year period from October 3, 2004 to October 2, 2007;

WHEREAS, this Board of Supervisors has reviewed the request and determined that it is in the County’s best interest to authorize the Purchasing Agent to purchase a selection of personal computers, servers, and peripherals from brand name vendors Dell, Hewlett Packard, and Gateway and to waive the RFP process because these brand names are consistently rated highest in the industry, the County has experience with these brand names, and waiving the RFP process will streamline purchasing procedures. In addition, this resolution does not limit any single departments ability to impose additional or different purchasing requirements;

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the President of this Board of Supervisors authorize the Purchasing Agent to purchase personal computers, servers, and peripherals from name brand vendors, Dell, Hewlett Packard, and Gateway and waive the RFP process for this equipment as being in the best interest of the County.
