BOARD MEETING DATE:

TO:

Honorable Board of Supervisors

FROM:

Steve Alms, Manager, Real Property Services

SUBJECT:

Basic Ordering Agreement with the Federal Bureau of Investigation for a Communication Site at Pise Mountain (Agreement No. 5169)

RECOMMENDATION:

Adopt a Resolution authorizing the President of the Board of Supervisors to execute a Basic Ordering Agreement with the Federal Bureau of Investigation for a communication site at Pise Mountain.

BACKGROUND:

The F.B.I. has occupied space in the County’s communication building at Pise Mountain under a license agreement since 1970. The most recent agreement expires on September 30, 2004 and both the F.B.I. and the Information Services Department would like to enter into an Agreement to extend the term.

DISCUSSION:

The Basic Ordering Agreement, a standard federal form, will be effective October 1, 2004 and will expire on September 30, 2005. The agreement allows for the F.B.I. to renew the agreement annually through September 30, 2014. Either party has the right to terminate this agreement with three months prior written notice. The monthly rent is $935.73 and will increase annually by 3%. The Chief Information Officer of the Information Services Department concurs in this recommendation. County Counsel has reviewed the agreement as to form.

VISION ALIGNMENT:

The Basic Ordering Agreement keeps the commitment of responsive, effective and collaborative government and goal number 22: County and local governments effectively communicate, collaborate and develop strategic approaches to issues affecting the entire County. The agreement contributes to this commitment and goal since it establishes a working agreement that benefits the County of San Mateo and the F.B.I.

FISCAL IMPACT:

The $11,228.76 annual income generated from this agreement will be deposited into a revenue account of the Information Services Department.
