Recommendation
|
Adopt an ordinance amending the salary ordinance and accept the report on the total number of positions in the County.
|

Summary
|
The salary ordinance changes herein represent:
• reclassifying five positions, and
• the conversion of one position from classified to unclassified status.
These actions were approved for study by the County Manager's Office.

|

This is the reclassification of two filled and two vacant positions of Legal Office Assistant to the classification of Legal Office Specialist. The Jail Intake unit of the Sheriff’s Office has changed their staffing assignments to provide for better off-hours coverage as well as improve staff flexibility. This change has resulted in employees in these two different classifications performing the same work. And the work is more appropriately classified in the Legal Office Specialist category. This action represents a monthly salary and benefits cost of $2813 based on filling the position at the top step of the range. There is no change in the total number of authorized positions.

This action will respond to the needs to provide increased level of support to the City/County Association of Governments (C/CAG) and, as such, the duties of the position are more complex and more appropriately represented by the Transportation Systems Coordinator classification. The action represents a monthly salary and benefits cost of $1537 based on filling the position at the top step of the range. There is no change in the total number of authorized positions.
