BOARD MEETING DATE:

TO:
Honorable Board of Supervisors
FROM:
Neil R. Cullen, Director of Public Works
SUBJECT:
Additions to or Exclusions from the County Maintained Road System
Recommendation
Adopt a resolution certifying the mileage of County maintained roads.
Previous Board Action
Adopted a similar resolution in previous years.
Key Fact
Section 2121 of the California Streets and Highways Code requires counties to report to the State each year, the total mileage of their maintained road system.
Discussion
The total County maintained mileage reported to the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) last year was 316.75 miles. The proposed total County maintained mileage to be reported to Caltrans this year is 316.57 miles. The net change in mileage is due to the deletion of roads within an unincorporated area that was annexed to the Town of Woodside, and the acceptance of a road in the MidCoast area into the County maintained road system. We have also included renamed roads in the proposed resolution in order to provide the State with this information.
Vision Alignment
We believe that our recommendation is consistent with the Shared Commitment to be a “responsive, effective and collaborative government” as providing this information to the State helps the State in the allocation of gas tax revenues back to the local agencies.
Fiscal Impact
There is no impact to the General Fund.
A form of resolution has been approved by County Counsel.
