RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF AMENDMENTS TO THE

NURSING AGREEMENTS WITH FIRST CALL NURSING SERVICES, STARMED HEALTH PERSONNEL, INC. DBA STARMED STAFFING GROUP, HRN SERVICES, INC., MAXIM HEALTHCARE SERVICES, INC., MEDICAL RESOURCE NETWORK, MEDSTAFF, INC., NURSE PROVIDERS, RELIEF NURSING, REGISTRY NETWORK AND TRAVCORPS, INC., A DELAWARE CORPORATION (DBA CROS COUNTRY STAFFING) (ON BEHALF OF ITSELF AND ITS AFFILIATES, NOVAPRO, INC., CROSS COUNTRY LOCAL, INC. AND ASSIGNMENT AMERICA, INC.)

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, it is necessary to contract with several nursing registries to provide San Mateo Medical Center and Health Services with access to nursing staff available to fill in for vacancies when necessary and to maintain maximum access to the available work force; and.

WHEREAS, on July 24, 2001, your Board approved Agreements with Agostini Nurse Staffing, First Call Nursing Services, Starmed Health Personnel, Inc., dba Starmed Staffing Group, HRN Services, Inc., Maxim Healthcare Services, Inc., Medical Resource Network, Medstaff, Inc., Nursefinders, Nurse Providers, Relief Nursing, and Registry Network to provide temporary nursing services to San Mateo Medical Center. An Agreement with Cross County TravCorps was subsequently approved and the collective maximum amount of the 12 agreements subsequently increased to $1,606,900; on November 18, the collectively maximum amount of 11 of the 12 agreements was increased to $2,898,900; and

WHEREAS, due to vacancies and shortages in the Nursing Department, in the Emergency Department, and in the Intensive Care Unit, due to the implementation of the Nursing Ratio Legislation in January of 2004, and due to an increase in the number of patients seen at San Mateo Medical Center, it is necessary to increase the collective maximum amount of 10 agreements by $1,200,000, from $2,806,900 to $4,098,900; and

WHEREAS, the term of the 10 agreements remains the same, from July 1, 2001 through June 30, 2004; and

WHEREAS, there have been presented to this Board of Supervisors for its consideration and acceptance Amendments to Agreements, reference to which is hereby made for further particulars, whereby the collective maximum amount of the agreements with First Call Nursing Services, Starmed Health Personnel, Inc, dba Starmed Staffing Group, HRN Services, Inc., Maxim Healthcare Services, Inc., Medical Resource Network, Medstaff, Inc., Nurse Providers, Relief Nursing, Registry Network, and TravCorps, Inc., A Delaware Corporation (dba Cross County Staffing) (on behalf of itself and its affiliates, NovaPro, Inc., Cross County Local, Inc. and Assignment America, Inc.), to provide temporary nursing services to San Mateo Medical Center is increased by $1,215,000 from $2,898,900 to $4,113,900; and

WHEREAS, this Board has been presented with forms of the Amendments to the Agreements and has examined and approved them as to both form and content and desires to enter into the Amendments to the Agreements:

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the President of this Board of Supervisors be, and is hereby authorized and directed to execute said Amendments to the Agreements for and on behalf of the County of San Mateo, and the Clerk of this Board shall attest the President's signatures thereto.
