Resolution Authorizing the Installation of Speed Humps on Country Club Drive (County Road No. 298), South San Francisco Area

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

 

WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors adopted Procedures for the Installation of Speed Humps/Dips on County Maintained Roads (“Procedures”); and

 

WHEREAS, the majority of property owners along Country Club Drive between Constitution Way and Dorado Way signed a petition requesting the installation of speed humps/dips to help control the speed of traffic on their street; and

 

WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works conducted traffic surveys on Country Club Drive which confirmed that the speed of traffic on Country Club Drive meets the criteria in the Procedures for the installation of speed humps, as more than twenty percent (20%) of all traffic travels five (5) miles per hour over the 25 mile per hour residential speed limit; and

 

WHEREAS, the Director of Public Works has recommended that speed humps be installed on Country Club Drive and this Board has considered the recommendation of the Director of Public Works.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the Director of Public Works is:

Authorized to proceed with the construction of speed humps along Country Club Drive between Constitution Way and Dorado Way once the fee of $400 per speed hump, as provided by the Procedures and as approved by this Board, have been paid. Said authorization shall terminate six months from the date of adoption of this resolution if said fees as described above are not paid within said six months; and

 

2.

Directed to monitor the effectiveness of the speed humps and to evaluate any impacts that the installation of the speed humps may have on traffic on other County maintained roads in the immediate area.
