Resolution Authorizing the Director of Public Works to Submit a Grant Application to the California Integrated Waste Management Board for a Reuse Assistance Grant to Develop a Computer Reuse Program

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, the California Integrated Waste Management Board has announced the availability of State financed Reuse Assistance Grants for public agencies and nonprofit organizations; and

WHEREAS, Goodwill Industries (Goodwill) and two County programs, Vocational Rehabilitation Services (VRS) and RecycleWorks, have proposed using a Reuse Assistance Grant to develop and provide a computer reuse program in San Mateo County, operated by Goodwill and supported and promoted by VRS and RecycleWorks, that will provide jobs and job training as well as establish a reuse alternative for computers; and

WHEREAS, this Board supports the proposal for a computer reuse program in San Mateo County and desires that a grant application be submitted to the California Integrated Waste Management Board for a Reuse Assistance Grant.

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY ORDERED AND DETERMINED that the Director of Public Works is hereby authorized to submit an application to the California Integrated Waste Management Board for a Reuse Assistance Grant, and to execute all necessary documents, including but not limited to, applications, amendments, and payment requests to secure grant funds and to implement and carry out the purposes specified in the grant.
