Recommended Revision to the Salary Ordinance

Recommendation

Adopt an ordinance amending the salary ordinance and accept the report on the total number of positions in the County.

Summary

The salary ordinance changes herein represent:

transferring one position from one department to another,

splitting one full time position into two half time positions,

adding one new extra help salary rate, and

combining two half time positions into one full time position.

These actions were approved for study by the County Manager's Office.

ORGANIZATION 32000 PROBATION DEPARTMENT

Action A:

Split: One full time position of D163, Probation Services Manager I

Biweekly Salary: $2512.80 - 3140.80

Approximate Monthly Salary: $5445 - 6806

Into: Two half time positions

Same salary range

Explanation:

This is the splitting of one full time Probation Services Manager I position into two half time positions. This change will better meet the working needs of current staff and will give the department greater flexibility in filling positions. This action represents no change in monthly salary and benefits costs. The action increases the total number of authorized positions by one.

Action B:

Combine: Two part time position of C001S, Deputy Probation Officer series

Biweekly Salary: $1836.80 - 2712.00

Approximate Monthly Salary: $3980 - 5876

Into: One full time position

Same salary range

Explanation:

This is the combining of two part time Deputy Probation Officer positions into one full time position. This change will better meet the working needs of current staff and will give the department greater flexibility in filling positions. This action represents no change in monthly salary and benefits costs. The action decreases the total number of authorized positions by one.

ORGANIZATION 39000 PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT

Action:

Add: One new extra help classification of I075, Parks and Recreation Director - extra help

Salary Rate: $80.00 per hour

Explanation:

This is the addition of one new extra help classification salary rate for the class of Parks and Recreation Director. This rate incorporates a part of the costs of benefits in the salary rate and represents a small savings in monthly salary and benefits costs. There is no change in the total number of authorized positions.

ORGANIZATION 61000 MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES

Action:

Add: One position D054, Clinical Services Manager I - Mental Health

Biweekly Salary: $2769.60 - 3461.60

Approximate Monthly Salary: $6001 - 7501

Explanation:

This is the transfer of one vacant position of Clinical Services Manager I - Mental Health from Correctional Health to Mental Health.

Mental Health currently manages the work performed by this position and it is more appropriate to have the position moved to that Department. This action represents no change in monthly salary and benefits costs. There is no change in the total number of authorized positions.

Action:

Delete: One position D054, Clinical Services Manager I - Mental Health

Biweekly Salary: $2769.60 - 3461.60

Approximate Monthly Salary: $6001 - 7501
