BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF AN AGREEMENT WITH NORTHROP GRUMMAN PUBLIC SAFETY INC. FOR IMPLEMENTATION OF A SHERIFF’S OFFICE MOBILE DATA COMPUTER SYSTEM

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that:

WHEREAS, the Sheriff’s Office has a longstanding need for mobile computers in Patrol vehicles to enhance data communication and help ensure the public’s safety;

WHEREAS, the Sheriff’s Office did, in January 2003 through January 2004, issue a Request for Proposals (RFP) for acquisition and implementation of said mobile data computer system;

WHEREAS, Northrop Grumman Public Safety Inc. was ultimately selected from amongst the finalists in said RFP process, as being the best qualified vendor with the most appropriate solution, to implement mobile data computers for the Sheriff’s Office; at a cost not to exceed five hundred ninety-three thousand eight-hundred thirty-six dollars ($593,836) including contingencies;

WHEREAS, the Sheriff’s Office has directly engaged other County departments including Information Services, Public Works, and Public Safety Communications in the vendor selection process, to help ensure a comprehensive approach; and

WHEREAS, funding for this project has been identified and set aside by the Sheriff’s Office IN THE Adopted FY 2004-05 Budget, so that the current and future additional cost impact to the County is minimal; and

WHEREAS, this Board has been presented with a form of said Agreement, and has examined and approved same as to both form and content, and desires to enter into same:

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the President of the Board of Supervisors be, and is hereby authorized and directed to execute said Agreement for and on behalf of the County of San Mateo, and the Clerk of this Board shall attest the President’s signature thereto.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Sheriff or his designee is hereby authorized and empowered to execute, in the name of San Mateo County, all necessary amendments and minor modifications, including use of designated Agreement Contingency funds, provided the total amount of the Agreement is not exceeded.
