RESOLUTION (1) AUTHORIZING THE ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES AGENCY DIRECTOR TO EXECUTE AN AMENDMENT TO THE AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE COUNTY OF SAN MATEO AND THE TWENTY CITIES OF THE COUNTY FOR THE PROVISION OF ANIMAL CONTROL SERVICES AND (2) AUTHORIZING THE ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES AGENCY DIRECTOR TO EXECUTE AN AMENDMENT TO THE AGREEMENT WITH THE PENINSULA HUMANE SOCIETY FOR THE PROVISION OF ANIMAL CONTROL SERVICES AND EXTENDING LAND LEASE

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, on June 17, 2003 the Board of Supervisors adopted resolution 066067 approving an Agreement with the Peninsula Humane Society (PHS) for shelter and field Animal Control Services for the entire County, and resolution 066066 approving an Agreement with the twenty cities of the County to provide Animal Control Services;

WHEREAS, the County and Peninsula Humane Society also entered into a written Lease Agreement dated October 12, 1971 in which the County leased to PHS twelve acres and such Agreement terminates on August 12, 2006;

WHEREAS, the County and cities wish to amend the Agreements to extend the animal control services contract and PHS land lease through June 30, 2008 and amend the PHS payment schedule;

WHEREAS, the County wishes to amend the PHS Agreement to add additional quarantine services provided by PHS under the direction of the County Health Officer.

WHEREAS, the Board has been presented with these Amendments and desires to enter into same;

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the Environmental Services Agency Director is hereby authorized and directed to execute said Amendments to the Agreements for and on behalf of the County of San Mateo and the Clerk of this Board shall attest his signature thereto.
