RESOLUTION WAIVING THE BID PROCESS AND AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASING AGENT TO PURCHASE A CHEMISTRY ANALYZER FROM OLYMPUS AMERICA INC. FOR SAN MATEO MEDICAL CENTER

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, Ordinance Code Section 2.92.050 authorizes the Board of Supervisors to waive bid process in any situation where the Board of Supervisors determines that the best interest of the county could be served without the necessity of bids; and

WHEREAS, the current chemistry analyzer is outdated and incapable of meeting community standards as well as the needs of the medical staff; and

WHEREAS, a new analyzer uses a direct measurement technology and is capable of handling different types of specimens; and

WHEREAS, the Chief Executive Officer of the Medical Center has asked the Board to waive the bid requirements for the purchase of a chemistry analyzer from Olympus America Inc. for the Laboratory Department; and

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that the bid process is hereby waived;

AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Purchasing Agent is hereby authorized to purchase a chemistry analyzer from Olympus America, Inc. for the Laboratory Department at San Mateo Medical Center.
