BACKGROUND

The Employee of the Month program was established in December 1984 to recognize and honor County employees who consistently demonstrate an outstanding level of performance.

Our Employee of the Month for January 2005 is Suzanne Moore, Nurse Practitioner, for the San Mateo Medical Center at the Mike Nevin Health Center in Daly City.

DISCUSSION

Suzanne has worked as a Nurse Practitioner for the Mike Nevin Health Center in Daly City since 1998. In this position, Suzanne provides comprehensive primary care services mostly to Mental Health patients. She assesses the health of patients, conducts physical examinations, initiates screening and diagnostic procedures, and manages health problems and illnesses.

Suzanne was nominated by Karen Colbourn, Administrative Secretary in Mental Health. Her nomination was endorsed by Dr. Sang-ick Chang who applauds Suzanne as “one of the most dedicated nurse practitioners I have the honor to know.” Suzanne is an extremely conscientious, dedicated and compassionate person who goes well beyond what is normally expected. She stays beyond her regular hours to process paperwork and she tries to accommodate walk-in patients, often missing breaks or lunches to do so. Her mentally ill clients are always treated in a respectful and compassionate manner. They let other staff know how much they appreciate how Suzanne treats them.

Our County is fortunate to have Suzanne Moore as one of its outstanding employees.
