RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING | ||||
ARMANDO RAMIREZ | ||||

WHEREAS, ARMANDO RAMIREZ has been serving the patrons of the Half Moon Bay Library with enthusiasm, hard work and bilingual expertise as a community services librarian; and | ||||
WHEREAS, ARMANDO RAMIREZ has made a strong impression with his cheerful, engaging dedication to youth and outreach to both Spanish and English speaking members of the community; and | ||||
WHEREAS, ARMANDO RAMIREZ was given national recognition for exemplary contributions to the library profession in the service of the Latino community by being named REFORMA 2005 Trejo Librarian of the Year; and | ||||
WHEREAS, ARMANDO RAMIREZ has made connections in the community through initiating successful programs like the Libros y Bebes, or Books and Babies; and | ||||
WHEREAS, ARMANDO RAMIREZ has helped build community through the weekly bilingual story time Wednesday evenings where the same book is read in both Spanish and English to kids and parents; and | ||||
WHEREAS, ARMANDO RAMIREZ has facilitated Saturday morning programs promoting singing, reading and friendly community with parents and families half an hour before the library opens; and | ||||
WHEREAS, ARMANDO RAMIREZ has made teens welcome at the library and promoted a new book club for teens to meet once a month during the school year to discuss books and share thoughts over pizza at the library; and | ||||
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County expresses congratulations and sincere gratitude to ARMANDO RAMIREZ for his contributions to bilingual library services and the Coastside community. | ||||
