WHEREAS, since 1938, the Hong Kong-based Sing Tao Newspaper Group has been at the forefront of Chinese-language journalism, earning global respect as one of the longest-publishing newspapers in Asia; and | ||||
WHEREAS, in 1975, Sing Tao Daily opened in San Francisco its first international office, focused on the overseas Chinese community in North America; and | ||||
WHEREAS, three decades later, Sing Tao Daily has grown to 22 offices across the globe, including nine international bureaus; and | ||||
WHEREAS, Sing Tao Daily currently enjoys the second-largest global circulation, and offers the largest regional coverage among overseas Chinese through its 16 international editions distributed in more than 100 cities around the world. | ||||
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County congratulates Sing Tao Daily upon the 30th anniversary of its Western Edition, and commends the newspaper’s management and staff for serving San Mateo County residents of Chinese heritage, while exemplifying and advancing the democratic principle of the free exchange of ideas. The Board further extends to Sings Tao Daily sincere wishes for continued success. | ||||
