Appropriation Transfer Request (ATR) to Provide Funding for the Repair of the Women’s Correctional Facility Kitchen Damaged by Fire (P7M01) – Redwood City Area
Recommendation
Approve an ATR transferring $57,850 in unanticipated revenue from Insurance Recoveries in the Risk Management accounts in Employee and Pubic Services, to the Fixed Assets accounts in the Non- Departmental Fund to recognize the funding for the repair of the Women’s Correctional Facility (Correctional Facility) kitchen that was damaged by fire.
Vision Alignment
Commitment: responsive, effective and collaborative government
Goal 20: government decisions are based on careful consideration of future impacts rather than temporary relief or immediate gain.
Your Board approving the ATR will align the expenses with the revenue source as the repairs were expedited to minimize disruption in this correctional facility.
Background
A fire that was determined to be caused by spontaneous combustion broke out on August 26, 2004, and damaged the kitchen in the Correctional Facility. The kitchen was immediately repaired in order to minimize the disruption in food services provided at this correctional facility.
Discussion
The work is considered a property damage claim that was initially paid for from the Capital Projects Budget. The ATR will establish an appropriation in the Capital Projects Budget to recognize the source of funding for the repair.
Fiscal Impact
The cost of repairing the Correctional Facility was $57,850 and will be financed from the County’s Property Damage Trust Fund. There is no impact to the General Fund.
A form of resolution has been approved by County Counsel.
