RESOLUTION WAIVING THE REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL PROCESS AND AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF AN AMENDMENT TO THE AGREEMENT WITH GE MEDICAL SYSTEMS FOR PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE AND SERVICE OF GENERAL BIOMEDICAL AND IMAGING EQUIPMENT

______________________________________________________________

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, Ordinance Code Section 2.92.050 authorizes the Board of Supervisors to waive bid process in any situation where the Board of Supervisors determines that the best interest of the county could be served without the necessity of bids; and

WHEREAS, given the increasing annual costs and additional equipment to be added with BLTC and the Women’s and Children Services, extending the existing Agreement for one year will give San Mateo Medical Center the opportunity to form a multi disciplinary committee to develop an RFP for this service. Given the number of contracts under the existing consolidated Agreement, the RFP process is expected to take approximately nine months; and

WHEREAS, on December 18, 2002, the Board of Supervisors by Resolution Number 64962, authorized an Agreement in the amount $1,701,336 for the term of January 1, 2002 to December 30, 2004; for the purpose of providing preventative maintenance and service of general biomedical and imaging equipment; and

WHEREAS, the parties wish to amend the Agreement by increasing the amount by $680,000, changing the Agreement obligation from $1,701,336 to $2,381,336 and extending the term of the Agreement, from January 1, 2005 to December 30, 2005; and

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that the Request for Proposal process is hereby waived;

AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the President of the Board of Supervisors is hereby authorized and directed to execute said Amendment to the Agreement for and on Behalf of the County of San Mateo and the Clerk of the Board shall attest the President’s signature thereto.
