RESOLUTION ACCEPTING A GRANT FROM THE WILLIAM AND FLORA HEWLETT FOUNDATION AND AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A GRANT ACCEPTANCE LETTER

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, on May 3, 2004 the Human Services Agency on behalf of the Workforce Investment Board submitted a grant proposal to The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation for the purpose of obtaining additional funds with which to provide continued training in the fields of bio-technology and allied health care targeted at residents, youth, adults and disadvantaged workers in the East Palo Alto community; and

WHEREAS, The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation awarded a grant to the Human Services Agency in the amount of $110,000 to be used by April 30, 2005 for the purpose of providing such bio-technology and allied health care training to the East Palo Alto community as outlined in the May 3, 2004 proposal; and

WHEREAS, this Board has been presented with a form of such grant and grant acceptance letter and said Board has examined and approved same as to both form and content and desires to accept the grant.

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the President of this Board of Supervisors is hereby authorized and directed to accept the aforementioned grant and to execute said grant acceptance letter for and on behalf of the County of San Mateo; and the Clerk of this Board shall attest the President's signature thereto.
